JO MUNFORD
Stained Glass Artist

I'm Jo the face behind Seaview Studio. I create original stained glass art from my studio in Netley Abbey, Hampshire. With both the coast and the New Forest on the doorstep my work is influenced by the nature in my surroundings, my long career in the marine industry and my love of the sea.
I initially trained as a textile designer at Derby University, achieving a First-Class Honours degree, then followed a career specifying interiors for superyachts. Looking for a new creative outlet coupled with a passion for stained glass, I retrained, learning the skill of traditional lead light work and am self taught in the ‘Tiffany’ technique. My origins in design, graphic textiles and love of the Arts and Craft Movement marries perfectly with my eye for quality, precision and detail.
I work mainly to commission, crafting stained glass windows, sculptures wall art and panels for both interior and exterior spaces. My pieces are a fusion of glass, metal and foraged wood and are designed in harmony with the materials and the space they are created for. I select glass with care, celebrating its unique qualities; bubbles, striations, streaks patterns and colours. Enhancing the glass further with traditional hand painting techniques.

I love a creative and technical challenge, pushing the boundaries of traditional stained glass while ensuring every piece is beautifully made to the highest quality, structurally sound and built to last. You can read more about the commissioning process here:
