COMMISSIONS

'Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful.'

William Morris

Commissioning bespoke work is a personal journey.  Whether it’s a window, panel, yacht model, interior or exterior sculpture or something completely different Seaview Studio joins you on the journey from concept through to completion to bring your project to life and to meet your expectations.

All great projects start with a conversation and the joining of ideas.  Even if you are not sure what you are after, a conversation will inspire and help you discover what is possible. Contact Jo at the Studio to talk about what you are looking to achieve, the scope of your project, budget and timescale.

It is difficult to give a ball park price for glass work as many factors can effect the cost of any project including size, detail and materials. The glass its self can vary in price considerably. However, it is possible to give ideas of prices of past work so you can quickly tell if something is achievable in your budget or not.

Seaview Studio aims to involve you at all stages of the project, starting with a comprehensive design and research service.  You will be presented with a design and suggested glass, wood and other finishes that might be included in your artwork. You will also be provided with an accurate quote.  Feedback is of course welcome and essential before the project build commences, so you will be invited to the studio if possible or via video call to see the samples.

Throughout the construction of your project you will be kept up to date via your preferred form of communication so you can see it taking shape.

There are limitations as to how much fine detail can be achieved through stained glass. Each piece of glass fits together like a jigsaw rather than a painting and is held together by solder or lead came. However, challenges are always welcome and painted effects, glass textures, wire and all manner or other possibilities can help to achieve details and effects.

The lead time for a commission can be between 3 weeks to 3 months depending on the project so it is best to plan ahead!
