In August Seaview Studio opened its doors; the studio, garden and house to exhibit as part of the annual event Hampshire Open Studios. Just short of 300 venues were open free to public this year showing just how much creativity there is in Hampshire. This free event enables art enthusiasts to meet buy and commission work directly from local artists
I wanted to give art lovers more than stained glass work on attending my venue so I curated a group "Seaview Artisans" offering ceramics, silver jewellery, photography, metal sculpture and glasswork.
These talented artisans were made up of:
Sarah Kaplan of SLK Ceramics - functional ware with beautiful and colourful glazes
Lauren Wileman of My925 Designs - wearable and affordable sterling silver jewellery
Rob Dove of Rob Dove Photography - stunning landscape photography
Nathan Shaw of NS_scuplture - reclaimed steel sculptures and bird art
Myself - modern satined glass and glass sculptures
We had a fantastic first year as a new venue on the block, with over 350 visitors during our 5 days opening. We offered tea and cake and tried to speak to everyone that came along to visit us. We received wonderful feedback from all our visitors and many of us are working on commissions and enquiries from our conversations. Fingers crossed we will be opening again for HOS23!
You can follow each of the Seaview Artisans through their websites and social media accounts and learn more about Hampshire Open Studios.
